Zig Zag pattern video (part 2)

Marc Hendriks is back with the second part of our large structure promotion video series, where he goes into further detail why truss diagonals do not have to follow the zig zag pattern. In this video, Marc speaks about how loading capacity is limited by bending and shear force, as well as the calculations used to determine maximum allowable loads. His explanations are paired with graphic illustrations that help make the information clear and understandable. Centre Point Load (CPU) is also discussed and what effect the angle of diagonals have on this calculation.

By the end of the video, you will have a far better grasp on how diagonals and their angles contribute to the alternating tension and compression that are so important for supporting loads.  And ultimately, you will understand why truss diagonals do not have to follow the zig zag pattern.
